How I got started in Animation

Posted by Black-Crystal - March 5th, 2016

Sharing on how I got started in animation.I started my first animation with flash animation back in 2005. At that time, I was not very interested in studying and somehow I stumbled upon Newgrounds.com. Then somehow again.. I am inspired to make animation.

I created my first complete animation titled 'Seven'. It is a simple action short but I am happy with it.

The Seven flash movie..

In later years, I accidentally watched a 3d CGI cutscene from a game that catches my attention. That 3d movie is a opening cutscene from Final Fantasy X-2. Afterwards I bought a PlayStation and the FF games. Played all of it throughout my holidays and I fell in love with Final fantasy because of  the story & the characters.

Final Fantasy is really the one that got me interested in 3d and seeing how a 'game movie' can make me feels. That's what I am trying to bring into my movies, to make a animation/film that makes people feel.

So if you're a artist or a animator, what inspired you to be what you are? Let's share!

A lot of flash movies on newgrounds inspired me(starting in middle school). What really keeps me going is coming up with ideas that make me laugh. Crazy, silly ideas. And there are a lot of people on newgrounds that really pull this off well. And the freedom to make something as crazy as you want is lots of fun, and also like you said, you can conjure up any emotion if you do it right :D

Yeah I am the same, I like coming up with different ideas of a story that is interesting enough to motivate me to create a animation :) To create something that is really good and interesting fulfills and inspires me to keep going.

YES!!! FF got me into 3-D hype as well. That's how I started watching RWBY and Code LYOKO and other 3-D stuff. I'm a traditional artist who is digitally impaired somewhat. My original inspiration was the original Megaman series. Now I enjoy watching flash content here on NG. Your video of introspection shows your last point. Animation can relay emotion.

Yea back then, Final fantasy is the only few big 3d thing that got alot of people into 3DCG in the first place. I think the late Monty Oum created the series 'Dead Fantasy' based on FF as well. It is interesting to see Megaman series as your source of inspiration, I never really understand the story nor the characters very well but I want to know more about its' history now :)
